In 2015, the Cambodian government introduced a 10-year Industrial Development Policy (IDP) 2015-2025 as a guide to promote the country’s industrial development that will help maintain sustainable and inclusive high economic growth through economic diversification, strengthening competitiveness and promoting productivity.

It aimed to increase the share of the industrial sector of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 30 percent by 2025, of which the manufacturing sector will increase to 20 percent. The intention of IDP was to register small and medium enterprises up to 80 percent and 95 percent respectively by 2025 with 50 percent and 70 percent of them with proper accounting records and balance sheets.
