Cambodia is committed to achieving a minimum 70% renewable energy share by 2030, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and environmental objectives and economic expansion.
Access to electricity in Cambodia increased dramatically between 2010 and 2022, from 34% to 98%.
Cambodia has formulated a Power Development Plan (PDP) for the period 2022-40 with the objective of mitigating power supply challenges and averting future disruptions.
Cambodia's objective with this strategy is to bolster energy security by promoting the utilization of domestic energy resources as opposed to dependence on imports. With a focus on reducing reliance on imports and prioritizing hydropower as the primary energy source, the PDP contemplates a transition to a cleaner grid.
